nitrous oxide
Nitrous oxide (NOS), commonly called laughing gas, is a colorless gas with a slightly sweet smell. It’s widely used medically for pain relief and sedation, and industrially in engines and food products.
Recreationally, it’s often inhaled from small canisters known as whippets, producing short-lived euphoria and dissociation.
While commonly used, misuse—especially from whippets or in enclosed spaces—can be dangerous, as it can deprive the body of oxygen and lead to serious harm or death.
