natural death

A natural death is one that occurs in the course of nature and is from natural causes (as age or disease) as opposed to accident or violence.

The deaths below were ruled by a government coroner or medical examiner to be from natural causes. These deaths are just a small subset of all natural deaths in L.A. County. Most natural deaths occur during a hospital stay and do not require the investigation of the coroner’s office.

Deaths can be classified as natural, suicide, homicide or accident.

Note: Medical examiners are not infallible. And not every ME has either the skills or the six hours to do a thorough forensic autopsy on each corpse assigned to them.

For most elderly deaths, the go-to cause for any medical examiner is heart disease.
