(L.A.) Matthew Shontz, 36, Died at a Residence

Los Angeles County is reporting the death of a 36-year-old White/Caucasian male that occurred at his residence.

The coroner’s office has identified the man as Matthew Shontz.

Manner of Death: Accident

Cause of Death: Effects of Methylenedioxymethamphetamine and Nitrous Oxide

Other Significant Condition: Recent Cocaine Use

RIP MATTHEW SHONTZ (June 19, 1988 – February 7, 2025)

Formal pronouncement of death was made on Friday at 5:28 p.m.

Ruling by the deputy medical examiner was published on May 27, presumably after the results of tox screening had come back from the lab.

This is considered an accidental, i.e., unintentional, drug overdose.
