alprazolam

This is Xanax, the most commonly prescribed benzodiazepine in the United States.

Alprazolam is a medication primarily used to treat anxiety disorders, panic disorders, and anxiety caused by depression. It belongs to the benzodiazepine class of drugs, which work by enhancing the activity of certain neurotransmitters in the brain, particularly gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA), to produce a calming effect.

The main types of deaths associated with alprazolam are overdoses, primarily accidental overdoses. These often involved people using alprazolam in conjunction with other drugs, particularly opiates or alcohol.

The risk of death is particularly high when alprazolam is combined with alcohol and opiates. These substances are all respiratory depressants, and their combined effect can be fatal.

Alprazolam is a controlled substance (Schedule IV) in the United States. Possessing it without a prescription is illegal.

Buying alprazolam on the street is illegal and extremely risky.
