RIP DEANNA KOBEISSI (September 15, 2004 – September 25, 2021)
Formal pronouncement of death was made on Saturday at 12:15 p.m.
Guanfacine, sold under the brand name Tenex among others, is an oral medication used to treat attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) and high blood pressure. Guanfacine is FDA-approved for monotherapy treatment of ADHD, as well as being used for augmentation of other treatments, such as stimulants. Guanfacine is also used off-label to treat tic disorders, anxiety disorders and PTSD.
Vilazodone, sold under the brand name Viibryd among others, is a medication used to treat major depressive disorder. It is classified as a serotonin modulator and is taken by mouth.
The medical examiner had officially ruled this death an accidental overdose. In a lawsuit filed by her family, however, they claim it was a suicide.
“Plaintiffs claim Defendants caused the suicide of Mike and Sandy’s daughter Deanna as a result of Defendants’ alleged dissemination of recording and false accusations which damaged Plaintiffs’ reputation and caused Deanna severe emotional distress.”
