Pseudomonas

Pseudomonas is a group of bacteria commonly found in the environment, such as soil and water. The species most commonly responsible for human infections is Pseudomonas aeruginosa.

P. aeruginosa can cause infections of the blood (including sepsis), lungs (pneumonia), urinary tract, surgical sites, and other parts of the body.

There is at least one record in the county from 2004 that mentions Pseudomonas fluorescens. This species is uncommon and is more often associated with contaminated blood products, indwelling medical devices, or immunocompromised patients.
