(L.A.) Julio Escoto, 47, Died on the 710 Freeway

Los Angeles County is reporting the death of a 47-year-old male that occurred on the southbound 710 Freeway.

The coroner’s office identified the man as Julio Escoto.

Manner and cause of death have not yet been determined; the information will be added to this page as soon as it becomes available.

Formal pronouncement of death was made on Monday morning.

Location: Southbound (SB) 710 Freeway, junction/area of Floral Drive to Olympic Boulevard (Central LA / CTLA)

At 3:19 a.m., a California Highway Patrol was informed of a traffic collision involving a gray Honda CRV and a “pedestrian on bicycle” in the #3 Lane.

The witness was a Starbucks employee on the way to work at the 3853 E 3rd Street store.

Authorities took a while to locate the victim. It wasn’t until 7:06 a.m. that the fatality was confirmed and the coroner was called.

Lanes were opened at 8:13 a.m..
