Los Angeles County is one of the nation’s leading hubs for the aerospace industry. The region has been central to aerospace innovation since the early 20th century, with major firms such as Lockheed Martin, Northrop Grumman, and Douglas Aircraft Company—now part of Boeing—establishing significant operations in the area. Southern California played a pivotal role in military aviation, space exploration, and advanced aircraft development throughout the 20th century.

The county is also home to world-class engineering institutions, including California Institute of Technology (Caltech), University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), and University of Southern California (USC), which help supply a highly skilled technical workforce.

In addition, the region benefits from proximity to major research and testing centers such as Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL) and Edwards Air Force Base, as well as major Pacific ports that support global aerospace supply chains.
