(L.A.) Sean Burroughs, 43, Died at Stearns Park
Case Number: 2024-07703
Los Angeles County is reporting the death of a 43-year-old White/Caucasian male that occurred in a vehicle.
The coroner’s office identified the man as Sean Burroughs.
Manner of Death: Accident
Cause of Death: Fentanyl Intoxication
RIP SEAN PATRICK BURROUGHS (September 12, 1980 – May 9, 2024)
Formal pronouncement of death was made on Thursday at 5:34 p.m.
Ruling by the deputy medical examiner was published on July 9, presumably after the results of tox screening had come back positive for the drug. This is considered an accidental drug overdose.
The decedent played Major League Baseball. He was an infielder for the San Diego Padres and won a gold medal at the 2000 Summer Olympics.
RIP Sean Burroughs.
This was such a classic.
At 12, he smashed it with Letterman.— Colin Dunlap (@colin_dunlap) May 13, 2024
According to mainstream media, Burroughs collapsed while coaching his son at a Little League game in Long Beach. A user on X, however, says he collapsed in his car in the parking lot of Stearns Park, and not on the field while coaching his son’s game. The Department of Medical Examiner did note the place of death as “vehicle.”
Sean was 43, and he collapsed in his car in the parking lot of Stearns Park; not on the field coaching his son’s game. Troubling to report inaccurate news.
