(L.A.) Kristin Jeannette-Meyers Died from Drug Overdose

Case Number: 2023-08064

Los Angeles County is reporting the death of a 57-year-old White/Caucasian female that occurred at her place of residence.

The coroner’s office has identified the woman as Kristin Bernstein.

Manner of Death: Accident

Cause of Death: Effects of Buprenorphine and Alprazolam

RIP KRISTIN BERNSTEIN (September 16, 1965 – June 30, 2023)

Formal pronouncement of death was made on Friday at 8:33 p.m.

Ruling by the deputy medical examiner was published on August 22, presumably after the results of tox screening came back positive for the drugs. This was classifed as an accidental overdose instead of an intentional overdose, primarily because no suicide note was found.

Buprenorphine, sold under the brand name Subutex among others, is an opioid used to treat opioid use disorder, acute pain, and chronic pain.

The decedent, at the time of her death, was legally using the surname of her husband Paul Bernstein. She was better known as Kristin Jeannette-Meyers. Her body was found in an advanced state of decomposition inside her home on the southeast corner of Clinton and Gower in Larchmont Village.

Incident location: Greater Mid-Wilshire/Hancock Park
