Los Angeles County is reporting the death of a 25-year-old Latino male that occurred at his residence.

The coroner’s office identified the young man as Domingo Rivera Guardado.

Formal pronouncement of death was made on Sunday.

Ruling by the deputy medical examiner was published on October 20, presumably after the results of tox screening had come back negative for illicit substances.

SCN9A is a gene that encodes the Nav1.7 sodium channel, a protein crucial for transmitting pain signals in the nervous system. Some sodium channel mutations (including those in related genes like SCN5A) can affect cardiac or autonomic functions, but this is not a primary feature of SCN9A.
