The coroner’s office has identified the man as Bohdan Salmanov, domiciled in Costa Mesa, California.

Firefighters responded at 10:39 a.m. to Berth 270 of Terminal Island for a worker trapped under a forklift at the Los Angeles Port.

Firefighters received reports of a worker trapped under a fork lift. Upon arrival, firefighters found the trapped person to be deceased. Urban Search and Rescue specialists will continue their response to assist with safely removing the heavy machinery from the site, to allow other agencies (CalOSHA, Law Enforcement and the Medical Examiner) to conduct their investigation. No transport. Nothing further.
