(L.A.) Alfred Marvray, 28, Died in a Vehicle

Los Angeles County is reporting the death of a 28-year-old Black male that occurred in a vehicle.

The coroner’s office has identified the man as Alfred Marvray.

Born in L.A. County. Mother’s maiden name is Kennedy.

RIP ALFRED JOSEPH MARVRAY (October 19, 1995 – February 13, 2024)

Formal pronouncement of death was made on Tuesday at 12:00 a.m. The incident happened on February 12, Monday.

The decedent was killed when a driver ran a red light in the Gramercy Park neighborhood shortly before midnight at the intersection of South Western Avenue and West Century Boulevard.

LAPD said the driver of a Tesla Model 3 was traveling southbound Western at a high rate of speed when it ran a red light and struck a silver Chevrolet Malibu that was headed eastbound on Century.

The violent collision between the two vehicles propelled the Malibu several yards away from the impact site and caused fatal injuries to the driver, identified as Alfred Joseph Marvray IV, who was the sole occupant of the Malibu.

The 26-year-old driver of the Tesla, identified as Hawthorne resident Destiney Alexis Baker, was seen taking a sobriety test and being put into handcuffs.

She was later booked for 187(A) PC – Murder at 77th Jail and is being held on $2,000,000 bail.
