(L.A.) Vernon Washington, 53, Died From Substance Abuse

Los Angeles County is reporting the death of a 53-year-old Black male that occurred on a sidewalk.

The coroner’s office has identified the man as Vernon Washington.

Manner of Death: Accident

Cause of Death: Acute Intoxication by the Combined Effects of Phencyclidine and Ethanol

RIP VERNON WASHINGTON (November 8, 1971 – November 17, 2024)

Formal pronouncement of death was made on Sunday at 9:49 p.m.

Ruling by the deputy medical examiner was published on February 17, presumably after the results of tox screening had come back from the lab.

This is considered an accidental, i.e., unintentional, overdose.
