Los Angeles County is reporting the death of a Caucasian female who passed away in a hospital.

The coroner’s office identified the infant girl as Shay McNamara.

Manner of Death: Accident

Cause of Death A: Hypoxic-Ischemic Encephalopathy

Cause of Death B: Resuscitated Cardiac Arrest

Cause of Death C: Probable Air Embolism

Other Significant Conditions: Atrial Septal Defect, Respiratory Syncytial Virus

RIP SHAY MCNAMARA (January 27, 2019 – March 7, 2019)

Formal pronouncement of death was made on Thursday at 7:05 a.m.

The child was about five and a half weeks old.

Air embolisms are uncommon as spontaneous natural events but are recognized complications of medical care.
