Myxomatous degeneration of the mitral valve is a common heart condition where the valve between the left atrium and left ventricle becomes weakened and floppy. This occurs due to the buildup of certain molecules in the valve tissue, causing it to thicken and lose its normal structure. As a result, the valve may not close properly, allowing blood to leak backward into the atrium during heart contractions. This condition often leads to mitral valve prolapse, where the valve bulges (prolapses) back into the atrium.
While many people with myxomatous degeneration experience no symptoms, a few individuals may develop complications like heart palpitations, chest pain, shortness of breath, or in severe cases, heart failure.

CASE REPORT FROM JAPAN
A 27-year-old man was transferred to the emergency room in cardiopulmonary arrest. The patient had just received a first dose of the mRNA-1273 shot. Autopsy revealed asymmetric left ventricular hypertrophy and myxomatous degeneration of the posterior leaflet of the mitral valve.

So did the cardiac conditions cause her death? It states drowning as the cause, but did the cardiac problems cause her to drown? Was it confirmed that cardiac conditions was what caused her to drown or were the cardiac conditions discovered during autopsy as a benign condition not associated with her death?
