(L.A.) Rufino Mireles Ramirez, 44, Died in South El Monte

Los Angeles County is reporting the death of a 44-year-old Hispanic male that occurred on a street.

The coroner’s office has identified the man as Rufino Mireles Ramirez of Fresno.

Manner of Death: Accident

Cause of Death: Multiple Blunt-Force Traumatic Injuries

Other Significant Conditions: Thermal Burn Injuries, Smoke Inhalation, and Carbon Monoxide Poisoning

RIP RUFINO MIRELES RAMIREZ (February 13, 1974 – September 2, 2018)

Formal pronouncement of death was made on Sunday at 4:55 a.m.

The decedent was one of two men who died when a truck smashed into a stopped sedan, flipped below a bridge, and caught fire on the Pomona (60) Freeway in South El Monte.

They were Kevin Lu, 21, of Walnut and Rufino Mireles Ramirez, 44, of Fresno.

California Highway Patrol said the crash happened at around 4:30 a.m. on the eastbound 60 Freeway at Peck Road.

The truck, loaded with cantaloupes, ended up under the freeway in flames.

Guardrails were melted in the incident.
