(L.A.) Ruben Fajardo, 50, Died at Magic Johnson Park Lake

Los Angeles County is reporting the death of a 50-year-old Latino male that occurred in the lake at Magic Johnson Park.

The coroner’s office identified the man as Ruben Fajardo.

Manner of Death: Suicide

Cause of Death: Drowning

Formal pronouncement of death was made on Thursday morning.

Magic Johnson Park is a 104-acre recreation area operated by L.A. County Parks and Recreation in the Willowbrook neighborhood. Formerly known as Willowbrook Recreation Center, it was renamed after Los Angeles Lakers star Earvin “Magic” Johnson in 1991.
