(L.A.) Paras Kumar, 18, Died at a Residence

Los Angeles County is reporting the death of a 18-year-old Asian male that occurred at a residence.

The coroner’s office has identified the man as Paras Kumar.

Manner of Death: Homicide

Cause of Death: Asphyxia and Thermal Burns

RIP PARAS KUMAR (January 7, 1984 – May 4, 2002)

Formal pronouncement of death was made on Saturday at 11:55 p.m.

The decedent was South Asian / Desi / Indian. He and his family were murdered by a business rival of his parents.

In 2005, Pravin “Peter” Govin was found guilty by a Los Angeles County Superior Court jury of killing Gita Kumar, 42; her son, Paras Kumar, 18; her daughter, Tulsi Kumar, 16; and her mother-in-law, Sitaben Patel, 63. It was the second time he has been tried in the case; the first trial ended in a hung jury.
