Los Angeles County is reporting the death of a 71-year-old Latino male that occurred in a hospital.

The coroner’s office identified the man as Pacifico Rodriguez.

Cause of Death: Sequelae of Transthyretin Amyloidosis

Formal pronouncement of death was made on Saturday.

The Department of Medical Examiner publicly disclosed the CoD ruling on October 23.

Transthyretin amyloidosis is a progressive condition caused by the buildup of abnormal amyloid protein deposits formed from misfolded transthyretin protein in various organs and tissues. It most commonly affects older adults, especially men over 60 years of age.
