Hemorrhagic foot ulcers are often associated with underlying conditions such as diabetes, which can lead to poor circulation and neuropathy, increasing the risk of ulcer formation and complicating healing. In diabetic patients, foot ulcers can become severe due to factors like decreased sensation and impaired blood flow, which can result in infections and potentially lead to amputation or systemic complications.

Cerebral neurocysticercosis is a brain infection caused by tiny larvae from a tapeworm called Taenia solium, which usually comes from eating undercooked pork or drinking contaminated water.

A history of cerebral neurocysticercosis suggests the possibility of neurological deficits that may impact mobility, making it more challenging for diabetics to care for their feet properly. Reduced mobility can also contribute to pressure sores and ulcers due to prolonged periods of immobility.

Out of over 160,000 death records made public by the county’s medical examiner since 1999, neurocysticercosis has been mentioned only about half a dozen times. The first one was in 2004. The most recent before this year’s case appears to have been in 2014. All the cases seem to have been decedents of Hispanic background.
