parasitic brain infection
Neurocysticercosis is a specific type of parasitic brain infection caused by the larval stage of the pork tapeworm, Taenia solium. This condition occurs when humans ingest the eggs of the parasite, leading to the development of cysts in the brain.
Out of over 160,000 death records made public by the county’s medical examiner since 1999, neurocysticercosis has been mentioned about half a dozen times.
There was one case in 2015 where the medical examiner did not specify neurocysticercosis but did mention that the death from epilepsy was a result of a history of a parasitic brain infection.
