Khabib Will Not Attend NSAC Hearing in December (Interview)

In a sit-down interview conducted in Turkey and aired on Turkish television, reigning UFC lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov clearly stated while speaking in Russian that he has no intention of attending a mandatory hearing scheduled by the Nevada State Athletic Commission (NSAC) for December 10.

The NSAC hearing is part of the process for determining what disciplinary measures, if any, should be meted to Nurmagomedov after he sparked a brawl at UFC 229 in Las Vegas on October 6.

Failure to attend such a hearing is understood to mean that the fighter will be looked upon unfavorably by commission and merit a suspension period longer than the widely estimated one or two years. In the interview, Nurmagomedov says he does not care if he receives a a 10-year ban from fighting in the state of Nevada.

Suspensions handed down by a particular state’s athletic commission are often honored by all 50 states.
