The coroner’s office identified the woman as Kathryn Gerdes.

California Highway Patrol first heard about a vehicle colliding with a pedestrian at 4:39 a.m.

A white Lexus stopped on the right shoulder and waited for authorities to arrive.

The decedent had apparently been walking across lanes near the transition from the eastbound Santa Monica (10) Freeway to the northbound Harbor (110) Freeway when she was hit.
