RIP FRED HENDRIKS ( October 2, 2025)

Formal pronouncement of death was made on Thursday.

The Department of Medical Examiner publicly disclosed the CoD ruling on November 15.

Failure to thrive describes a state of decline characterized by progressive weight loss, decreased appetite, poor nutrition, and decreased physical function. The causes are often multifactorial, including chronic diseases like arteriosclerotic cardiovascular disease, impaired functional ability such as mobility and self-care problems, depression, cognitive impairment, and sometimes socioenvironmental factors like social isolation and lack of support.

In the context of arteriosclerotic cardiovascular disease, the chronic poor blood flow and resulting organ and tissue dysfunction can cause or contribute to failure to thrive.
