Los Angeles County is reporting the death of a 54-year-old male that occurred in jail.

The coroner’s office has identified the man as Erik Meloni and listed his race/ethnicity as Latino.

Born in L.A. County. Mother’s maiden name is Pihlmann.

Manner of Death: Natural

Cause of Death A: Ischemic Heart Disease

Cause of Death B: Atherosclerotic Coronary Artery Disease

Formal pronouncement of death was made on Friday at 8:15 a.m.

Ruling by the deputy medical examiner was published on May 29, presumably after the results of tox screening had come back negative for substances.

We do not know if the decedent was injected with synthetic mRNA.

He had been arrested by LASD on August 16, 2023, for possession of an assault weapon, with his middle name recorded as Carlo / Carlos and his race as White.

He was housed at Twin Towers Correctional Facility (TTCF) at 450 Bauchet Street, with a scheduled release date of August 9, 2024. This is LASD’s eigth in-custody death for the year. 2024-008
