(L.A.) Elvis Augustine, 34, Died From Substance Abuse

Los Angeles County is reporting the death of a 34-year-old Black male that occurred in a hospital.

The coroner’s office identified the man as Elvis Augustine.

Manner of Death: Accident

Cause of Death: Methamphetamine and Ethanol Toxicity

Formal pronouncement of death was made on Sunday at 2:25 a.m.

Ruling by the deputy medical examiner was published in March, presumably after the results of tox screening had come back from the lab. This is considered an accidental, i.e., unintentional, overdose.

The government investigator had initially given the decedent’s name as Chinonso Augustine. The forename Chinonso is distinctly Nigerian.
