RIP CHRISTOPHER MYERS ( January 18, 2026)

UPDATE: In May, the Department of Medical Examiner changed their initial determination that this was an accident.

The government investigator had initially stated that the decedent’s place of death was a “marsh.”

Soma (carisoprodol) is a prescription muscle relaxer often used for short-term relief of muscle pain or spasms. It works by slowing down activity in the nervous system, which can make the body feel more relaxed but also drowsy. Lunesta (eszopiclone) is a medication used to treat insomnia, and it also has a sedating effect on the brain. Taking these two medications together is generally avoided because both can increase sleepiness and slow breathing, raising the risk of serious side effects like extreme drowsiness, poor coordination, or trouble staying awake.

Note that this is a very common name. In fact, L.A. County has on record at least five decedents with this very same name.
