(L.A.) Aliaksei Lauski, 37, Died From Drug Overdose

Case Number: 2023-10521

Los Angeles County is reporting the death of a 37-year-old White/Caucasian male. He was found lifeless inside in a vehicle.

The coroner’s office has identified the man as Aliaksei Lauski.

Height: 5 feet 9 inches. Weight: 170 pounds. Blond hair. Blue eyes.

Manner of Death: Accident / Unintentional Drug Overdose

Cause of Death: Effects of Fentanyl and Ethanol

RIP ALIAKSEI LAUSKI (August 17, 1985 – August 11, 2023)

Formal pronouncement of death was made on Friday at 10:30 a.m.

Ruling by the deputy medical examiner was published on January 4, after the results of tox screening had come back positive for the fentanyl. Ethanol here refers to alcohol consumption; presumably, his blood alcohol levels were elevated.

Decedent’s last known address: 1227 North Orange Drive, Apt 301, Los Angeles, California 90038

We do not know who supplied him with the illegal drug.

Preliminary figures show L.A. County had about 2,000 deaths last year from fentanyl alone. The numbers are delayed because there is a large processing backlog at the area laboratories that perform testing. Aside from fentanyl, overdoses from meth, PCP, heroin, cocaine and prescription drugs are also common causes of death.

In June 2023, Timofey Klubov died in L.A. from a fentanyl overdose as well.

If the test results show the presence of specific drugs, blame can be assigned to whoever provided him with the drugs. Unfortunately, unless the deceased is a famous rapper, the police are unlikely to charge the drug supplier. Theoretically, aside from criminal charges, the drug dealer can be sued in civil court by the family for damages, but seeing that his family is not stateside, it will be even more difficult.

The decedent was from Minsk, Belarus. Алексей Олегович Лавский [sp?]

He had been convicted in his home country of taking part in two anti-government marches in August 2020. After serving his sentence, he left in spring 2022.

On June 20, 2023, he posted that he had acquired legal status in the United States and showed off a California driver’s license and a U.S. social security number, as well as a work permit / employment authorization card valid until April 2025.

Another Belarusian who died earlier this year in Los Angeles was Maxim Ishutin / Максим Ишутин. A successful software engineer who was among the first to work at Google and Amazon, the 49-year-old father of two committed suicide.

The video below shows a common sight in Los Angeles — paramedics trying to resuscitate a victim of drug overdose. This 31-year-old man died in Santa Monica in June.

Most of our drug deaths here in L.A. are homeless, but quite a number are “normal” people who led fluorishing lives. For example, bookstore owner Alex Maslansky died from overdosing on fentanyl-laced heroin.
