(L.A.) Tristan Cooper, 44, Ended His Life

Case Number: 2024-09501

Los Angeles County is reporting the death of a 44-year-old White/Caucasian male that occurred outside of a business.

The coroner’s office has identified the man as Tristan Cooper.

Manner of Death: Suicide

Cause of Death: Combined Effects of Acetyl Fentanyl, Benzylfentanyl, Fentanyl, Fluorofentanyl, and Methamphetamine

RIP TRISTAN COOPER (February 14, 1980 – June 13, 2024)

Formal pronouncement of death was made on Thursday at 7:30 a.m.

The Department of Medical Examiner publicly disclosed the CoD ruling on August 9, presumably after the results of tox screening had come back positive for the drugs.

Out of over 160,000 death records made public by the county’s medical examiner since 1999, this may be only the second time that benzylfentanyl has been mentioned as a contributory cause of death. The first appears to have been an accidental overdose in 2022.
