Los Angeles County is reporting the death of a 60-year-old Black female that occurred at her home.

The coroner’s office has identified the woman as Sharon Seiler, resident of Alveo Road in La Cañada Flintridge.

Manner of Death: Natural

Cause of Death A: Respiratory Failure

Cause of Death B: Diffuse Alveolar Damage

Cause of Death C: Coronavirus Disease 2019 (Covid-19)

Other Significant Conditions: Coronary Artery Atherosclerosis, Nephrosclerosis

Formal pronouncement of death was made on Monday at 6:32 a.m.

This appears to be the third earliest case in the medical examiner’s database where COVID was mentioned.

Note that most so-called COVID deaths occur during a stay at a hospital and so do not have to go through the coroner’s office. Only deaths that require investigation by a government agency are passed through the medical examiner.
