(L.A.) Roderick Elder, 65, Died on a Sidewalk

Los Angeles County is reporting the death of a 65-year-old Black male that occurred on a sidewalk.

The coroner’s office has identified the man as Roderick Elder.

Manner of Death: Accident

Cause of Death: Combined Effects of Cocaine, Methamphetamine and Phencyclidine

Formal pronouncement of death was made on Thursday.

Ruling by the deputy medical examiner was published in mid-September, presumably after the results of tox screening had come back from the lab.

This is considered an accidental, i.e., unintentional, drug overdose.
