(L.A.) Raymond Peters, 72, Died in a Hospital

Los Angeles County is reporting the death of a 72-year-old male that occurred in a hospital.

The coroner’s office has identified the man as Raymond Peters.

Cause of Death: Traumatic Injuries

RIP RAYMOND PETERS (November 16, 1950 – May 5, 2023)

Formal pronouncement of death was made on Friday at 1:14 a.m.

The decedent was a pedestrian who was fatally injured by a hit-and-run motorcyclist in South Los Angeles.

LAPD stated that the incident happened at around 11:45 p.m. May 4 (Thursday) on Western Avenue at 79th Street.

The suspect was driving a newer model Honda Goldwing motorcycle, southbound on Western Avenue at 79th Street, when he struck a pedestrian. The victim had just parked his vehicle and was crossing Western Avenue when he was struck by the suspect’s motorcycle. The suspect fled the scene but stopped nearby to remove damaged motorcycle parts.

Surveillence video shows that the suspect was wearing a “Chosen Few” motorcycle club jacket.

“The suspect is a full-patch Chosen Few motorcycle club member,” LAPD Detective Ryan Moreno said.

UPDATE: A 62-year-old motorcyclist named Mark Taylor turned himself in at LAPD’s 77th Street Community Police Station at 3:45 p.m. on January 30 (Tuesday), nearly six hours after South Traffic Division detectives announced a $50,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the suspect in the May 4 crash.
