(L.A.) Pravin Patel, 62, Died in a Hospital

Los Angeles County is reporting the death of a 62-year-old male that occurred in a hospital.

The coroner’s office has identified the man as Pravin Patel and listed his race/ethnicity as Middle Eastern [sic].

Manner of Death: Homicide

Cause of Death: Gunshot Wound to the Abdomen

We are logging this death as that of a South Asian / Desi / Indian.

The decedent was the owner of a Quiznos restaurant in San Dimas. He was killed by Sergey S. Gutsu, a Ukrainian, during a robbery.

Patel had owned the restaurant for 11 years.
