Los Angeles County is reporting the death of a 78-year-old White/Caucasian male that occurred in a hospital.

The coroner’s office identified the man as Paul Ottenfeld.

Manner of Death: Suicide

Cause of Death: Gunshot Wound of the Head

RIP PAUL H OTTENFELD (January 16, 1947 – June 22, 2025)

Formal pronouncement of death was made on Sunday.

On June 27, the Department of Medical Examiner changed its initial conclusion that this was a homicide and updated the manner of death to suicide.
