OSU Medical Student, 27, Collapses Near End of Bike Ride, Dies
Ohio State University medical student Mason Fisher collapsed a few miles before reaching the end of what would have been his third completed Pelotonia bike ride on Saturday.
Fisher was scheduled to enter his second year at Ohio State University’s College of Medicine.
He reportedly collapsed near the 100-mile mark of the 102-mile Pelotonia, a bike ride to benefit cancer research. The 27-year-old was riding this year in memory of a friend who died from colorectal cancer in 2021.
News reports are that Fisher suffered from a “heart-related medical issue” during the charity event.
An estimated 6,500 to 7,000 riders took part in this weekend’s riding challenges.
Mason Fisher’s date of death: August 6, 2022
