(L.A.) Meghan Mahoney, 51, Ended Her Life

Los Angeles County is reporting the death of a 51-year-old White/Caucasian female that occurred at her residence.

The coroner’s office has identified the woman as Meghan Mahoney.

Manner of Death: Suicide

Cause of Death: Combined Effects of Alprazolam, Paroxetine, Phentermine, and Quetiapine

Formal pronouncement of death was made on Wednesday at 4:58 p.m.

The Department of Medical Examiner publicly disclosed the CoD ruling on October 2, presumably after the results of tox screening had come back positive for the drugs.

Paroxetine, commonly known by the brand name Paxil, is a selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor (SSRI) primarily used to treat various mental health conditions. It is primarily used to treat major depressive disorder, obsessive-compulsive disorder, panic disorder, social anxiety disorder, generalized anxiety disorder, post-traumatic stress disorder, and premenstrual dysphoric disorder.

Phentermine is a prescription medication used as an appetite suppressant to aid in weight loss, typically prescribed in conjunction with a doctor-approved exercise, behavior change, and reduced-calorie diet program for individuals who are overweight or obese and have weight-related medical problems.
