Los Angeles County is reporting the death of a 42-year-old Black male that occurred in a hospital.

The coroner’s office has identified the man as Marvece Turner.

Manner of Death: Natural

Cause of Death A: Complications of Sepsis

Cause of Death B: Prostate Abscess

Other Significant Condition: Complications of Diabetic Ketoacidosis

Formal pronouncement of death was made on Thursday.

Diabetic ketoacidosis is a dangerous complication primarily seen in people with diabetes mellitus. It results from insulin deficiency, causing the body to burn fat instead of sugar for energy, leading to the build-up of acidic ketones in the blood. DKA itself can cause impaired immune response, increasing susceptibility to infections such as those leading to sepsis.
