(L.A.) Mariamawit Baye, 20, Died at a Residence

Los Angeles County is reporting the death of a 20-year-old female that occurred at her residence.

The coroner’s office identified the young woman as Mariamawit Baye and listed her race/ethnicity as Middle Eastern or North African [sic].

Manner of Death: Suicide

Cause of Death: Hanging

Formal pronouncement of death was made on Friday.

Note that the government investigator had initially given the decedent’s race/ethnicity as White/Caucasian before later changing it to MENA.

The decedent’s name appears to be Ethiopian.

Ethiopia is a country in the Horn of Africa, which is in East Africa.
