TRAFFIC FATALITY – PALO VERDE AVENUE AND CARSON STREET
Detectives are investigating a traffic collision that occurred on June 11, 2025, which resulted in the death of a 15-year-old boy. At approximately 2:56 p.m., officers responded to an injury traffic collision at Palo Verde Avenue and Carson Street involving a vehicle versus a pedestrian. Long Beach Fire Department personnel provided medical aid and transported the pedestrian to a local hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.
Preliminary investigation reveals a 2010 Infiniti G37 was traveling westbound on Carson Street when it failed to stop for a red traffic signal at the intersection of Palo Verde Avenue. A 2010 Toyota Pruis, traveling southbound on Palo Verde Avenue, entered the intersection on a green traffic signal, colliding with the Infiniti G37. The force of the collision caused the Infiniti to skid and overturn. As the Infiniti went onto the northwest sidewalk on Carson Street, the pedestrian sitting at the bus stop was struck.
The driver of the Toyota Pruis, a 32-year-old male resident of Lakewood, remained at the scene and cooperated with the investigation. The driver of the Infiniti G37 was transported to a local hospital in stable condition. At this time, speed appears to be a factor in the collision.
