Los Angeles County is reporting the death of a nine-year-old Black male.

The coroner’s office has identified the child as Lei Spicer.

Manner of Death: Natural

Cause of Death: Pneumonia Due to Multiple Respiratory Viral Infections

Other Significant Conditions: Recent Adenovirus, Coronavirus 229E, Human Rhinovirus/Enterovirus, Parainfluenza Virus 3 and Parainfluenza Virus 4 Infection; Obstructive Sleep Apnea

Formal pronouncement of death was made on Tuesday at 9:14 a.m.

The Department of Medical Examiner publicly disclosed the CoD ruling on June 17, presumably after the results of panel testing had come back from the lab.

HCoV-229E is one of seven known human coronaviruses. In healthy adults, HCoV-229E typically causes mild symptoms such as runny nose, cough, and sore throat.
