Los Angeles County is reporting the death of a 57-year-old Black male that occurred in a hospital.

The coroner’s office identified the man as Keith Shaw Sr.

Manner of Death: Natural

Cause of Death: Hypertensive Cardiovascular Disease

Other Significant Conditions: Chronic Methamphetamine Use; Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease

RIP KEITH MARVELL SHAW SR. (December 27, 1968 – March 24, 2026)

Formal pronouncement of death was made on Tuesday.

The decedent was in the custody of LASD when he was taken to Los Angeles General Medical Center, aka LAC+USC. He expired in the emergency department.

He had been arrested by Long Beach PD on March 10 for a parole violation. His next court date was to have been April 17.
