(L.A.) Karen Renly, 66, Died from Overdosing on Drugs

Los Angeles County is reporting the death of a 66-year-old White/Caucasian female that occurred at her residence.

The coroner’s office has identified the woman as Karen Renly of North Hollywood, California.

Manner of Death: Accident

Cause of Death: Effects of Fentanyl, Buprenorphine, Temazepam, Oxazepam, and Diazepam

Formal pronouncement of death was made on Sunday at 4:54 p.m.

Determination by the deputy medical examiner was published on August 29, presumably after the results of tox screening came back positive for the drugs. This was ruled to be an accidental overdose and not a suicide.

Buprenorphine, sold under the brand name Subutex among others, is an opioid used to treat opioid use disorder, acute pain, and chronic pain.

Temazepam (sold under the brand names Restoril among others) is a medication of the benzodiazepine class which is generally used to treat severe or debilitating insomnia.
