Los Angeles County is reporting the death of a 33-year-old Latino male.

The coroner’s office has identified the man as Jose Varela Jr.

Manner of Death: Accident

Cause of Death: Combined Effects of Methamphetamine and Fentanyl

RIP JOSE VARELA JR. (September 17, 1990 – October 19, 2023)

Formal pronouncement of death was made on Thursday at 8:18 a.m.

Ruling by the deputy medical examiner was published on November 30, presumably after the results of tox screening came back positive for the drugs. This is considered an accidental overdose.
