(L.A.) Jose Sosa, 31, Died in Jail

Los Angeles County is reporting the death of a 31-year-old Latin American male that occurred in a jail.

The coroner’s office has identified the man as Jose Sosa.

Manner of Death: Accident

Cause of Death: Effects of Cocaine

Other Significant Condition: Atherosclerotic Cardiovascular Disease

RIP JOSE SOSA (June 18, 1991 – March 23, 2023)

Formal pronouncement of death was made on Thursday at 5:40 a.m.

Ruling by the deputy medical examiner was published on August 17, presumably after the results of tox screening came back positive for the drug.

This was one of the 45 in-custody deaths that LASD recorded in 2023.
