Los Angeles County is reporting the death of a 30-year-old Latino male that occurred on a bus.

The coroner’s office has identified the man as Jose Ruiz.

Born in L.A. County. Mother’s maiden name is Cabrera.

Manner of Death: Accident

Cause of Death A: Cardiopulmonary Arrest

Cause of Death B: Positional Asphyxia

Cause of Death C: Acute Alcohol Intoxication

Formal pronouncement of death was made on Sunday at 11:17 p.m.

The Department of Medical Examiner publicly disclosed the CoD ruling on April 12.

Positional asphyxia occurs when an individual’s body position obstructs their ability to breathe adequately, often leading to suffocation. This condition can be particularly dangerous in situations where a person is drunk because alcohol impairs balance and awareness, increasing the likelihood of falling into a position that restricts airflow.
