(L.A.) Jose Montoya, 34, Died in a Vehicle

Los Angeles County is reporting the death of a 34-year-old Latino male that occurred in a vehicle.

The coroner’s office identified the man as Jose Montoya of Alaska.

Manner of Death: Accident

Cause of Death A: Acute Combined Drug Intoxication

Cause of Death B: Fentanyl and Methamphetamine

RIP JOSE MONTOYA (August 14, 1991 – November 29, 2025)

Formal pronouncement of death was made on Saturday.

The decedent and a female companion had taken drugs earlier in the day. When she woke up at around 11:20 a.m., she found him unresponsive and called emergency services. They were in a Volvo XC60 in the Newhall area.
