(L.A.) Jose Martinez, 56, Died in a Hospital

Los Angeles County is reporting the death of a 56-year-old Latino male that occurred in a hospital.

The coroner’s office identified the man as Jose Martinez.

Manner of Death: Accident

Cause of Death: Sequelae of Ethanol-Related Hepatic Cirrhosis

Other Significant Condition: Effects of Methamphetamine

Formal pronouncement of death was made on Friday at 2:02 p.m.

Ruling by the deputy medical examiner was published on May 9, presumably after the results of tox screening had come back from the lab. This is considered an accidental, i.e., unintentional, drug overdose.
