(L.A.) Jose Gonzalez, 70, Died in a Building Fire

Los Angeles County is reporting the death of a 70-year-old male that occurred in a building fire.
The coroner’s office has identified the man as Jose Gonzalez.
Manner of Death: Accident
Cause of Death: Thermal Injuries and Inhalation of Products of Combustion

Formal pronouncement of death was made on Wednesday at 1:30 a.m.
The Department of Medical Examiner publicly disclosed the CoD ruling on March 1.
Note that there are multiple decedents named “Jose Gonzalez” in public records.

At 12:17 a.m., LAFD responded to a reported structure fire and found a one-story (60′ x 80′) metal-clad, commercial building with two autos in a carport to the rear, well involved in fire.
Firefighters initiated a defensive operation and extinguished the fire in 38 minutes. There were 83 firefighters on scene when the fire was knocked down at 12:55 a.m.
While conducting the primary search, they located an adult male inside the building who was beyond medical help. Firefighter-paramedics determined him deceased on scene.
LAPD and LAFD Arson Section responded for the investigation per protocol for a fatality.
The building appeared to be filled with mattresses but it is unclear exactly what type of business was in operation.
