(L.A.) Jamie Bennett, 54, Died on a Beach

Los Angeles County is reporting the death of a 54-year-old Caucasian male that occurred on a beach.

The coroner’s office has identified the man as Jamie Bennett.

Manner of Death: Accident

Cause of Death: Effect of Alprazolam and Ethanol

Other Significant Condition: Coronary Atherosclerosis

Formal pronouncement of death was made on Saturday at 7:32 a.m.

Ruling by the deputy medical examiner was published in early August, presumably after the results of the tox screening came back positive.

Alprazolam, sold under the brand name Xanax, is a fast-acting, potent tranquilizer of moderate duration within the triazolobenzodiazepine group of chemicals called benzodiazepines. Alprazolam is most commonly used in management of anxiety disorders, specifically panic disorder or generalized anxiety disorder.
